Efficiency NS Rebates and Savings

There are a number of various rebate programs for certain types of insulation including:

  • Draft proofing (up to $200)
  • Basement Header Insulation (up to $150)
  • Basement Slab Insulation (up to $200)
  • Ceiling Insulation (up to $750)
  • Exposed Floor Insulation (up tp $200)
  • Exterior Wall Insulation (up to $1,500)
  • Basement insulation (up to $1,200)

Efficiency Nova Scotia - Moderate Income Rebate

Depending on your household income, you may qualify for efficiency upgrades such as heat pumps and better insulation.

Multiple rebates available: Rebates help cover the costs of heat pumps, better insulation and more.

Eligibility Criteria

General eligibility: Available to lower- to-moderate-income qualified homeowners who primarily use non-electric heating.Household income limits:
(Calculated by subtracting line 435 from line 236 in your Tax Notice of Assessment)

1 person: $37,260
2 people: $77,050
3 people: $98,900
4 people: $120,750
5+ people: $126,500

You own your home: Your home is located in Nova Scotia and you have proof that you own it (for example, your property tax bill number).

Free energy assessment and home upgrades for income-qualified homeowners.

“If we discover that draft-proofing, insulation or other efficiency options can help make heating & cooling your home substantially more affordable and comfortable, we’ll install the upgrades at no cost to you. We’ll even coordinate the retrofits.”

Efficiency Nova Scotia - Home Energy Assessment

If you’re looking to optimize your energy use, the first step is understanding how your home uses energy.

Fee waived for moderate-income households: Efficiency Nova Scotia will waive the $199 fee for households that meet our income threshold.

Rebates available for upgrades: You may qualify for rebates of up to $5,000 to cover recommended energy efficiency upgrades and eligible products.

Efficiency Nova Scotia - Mi’kmaw Home Energy Efficiency Project

The Mi’kmaw Home Energy Efficient Project (MHEEP) is open to all band-owned homes and Certificate of Possession homes in First Nations communities. Open to all First Nation band-owned homes and privately-owned homes.

Upgrades: Potential energy efficiency upgrades include draft-proofing, insulation, ductless mini-split heat pumps, bath fans and more.
