Renovations of Heritage Buildings
Ville de Laval offers financial assistance for the renovation and restoration of heritage buildings. The subsidy programme reimburses 40 % of the admissible work costs to a maximum cap of $12,500.

Gazifère Support for Initiatives

The Support for Initiatives program subsidizes measures involving the use of natural gas in production processes, high-efficiency equipment not covered by existing Gazifère programs and measures involving building mechanical systems.

Gazifère provides cash incentive of $0.30/m3 of natural gas saved. The cash incentive provided by Gazifère cannot exceed 40% of the cost of the measure or $20,000* for projects involving building mechanical systems, and 40% of the cost of the measure or $10,000* for the other types of projects.

Improving the insulating value of a roof

Insulation work must target at least 20% of the total surface area of the roof to be entitled to financial assistance. If the roof is composed of more than one type of roof (for example, attic, cathedral ceiling, flat roof), the amount will be calculated on a pro rata basis, i.e. on the basis of each roof type and its respective surface area.

Improving the insulating value of exterior walls

  • If you are planning to change the exterior siding of your walls, it would be a good idea to improve their insulation as well.
  • At least 20% of the total surface area of the exterior walls (common walls not included) must be insulated to be entitled to financial assistance.
  • A different calculation method is used for semi-detached and row homes.

Novoclimat Small Multiple-Unit Buildings
Novoclimat – Small Multiple-Unit Building promotes the construction of residential buildings with high energy performance.

The Novoclimat Small Multiple-Unit Building program applies to duplexes, triplexes and quadruplexes as well as multiple-unit buildings of three or fewer storeys and 600 m2 and less. The types of buildings eligible are private, i.e. condominiums or dwelling units, or social housing.

A Novoclimat dwelling unit or condominium offers numerous advantages:

  • more energy efficient dwelling units, which will reduce your energy costs;
  • superior comfort since more airtight walls mean fewer unpleasant drafts;
  • better air quality because of the mechanical ventilation heat recovery system that draws fresh air into the main rooms;
  • better temperature control through the use of electronic thermostats but, above all, by means of superior insulation and the installation of energy-efficient windows that help to keep warm inside in winter and cool air inside in the summer;
  • a dwelling built by trained, certified professionals since only specially trained builders and ventilation specialists who have obtained Novoclimat certification issued by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec may build small multiple-unit buildings and install a ventilation system in them.

Energir (New Gaz Metro) Renovation Fund

Energir (New Gaz Metro) Renovation Fund

This program is aimed at encouraging renovations that will improve the thermal envelope of buildings to make them more energy efficient and thus reduce your operating costs.

Get up to 50% of the cost of your work.

Énergir will pay you financial assistance for the renovation of any building supplied with natural gas. The financial assistance is based on the energy savings generated. The amount of financial assistance awarded may not be higher than 50% of the investment costs.*

It offers financial assistance for energy efficient work on the building envelope, such as:

  • replacing the windows
  • insulating the walls
  • insulating the roof
  • sealing the building
  • installing thermal screens for greenhouses, etc.
